5.2.1 Die Stellung der Personalpronomen.

You probably have noticed that the position of the personal pronoun differes from the position of English pronouns. If we had translated the sentences in the previous chapter word by word, we would have come to strange sentences as: I him see.

The first rule is already here to be seen: the pronouns in French are put before the first conjugated verb, or if there is an infinitive before the infinitive. In English the pronouns are after all the verbs, conjugated or infinitive. In the beginning this might feel strange to differ from the logic, but you will see, you will get used to it.
