Jean de la Fontaine

Jean de la Fontaine was born in 1621 in l' Aisne (in the north-west of France), he died in Paris in 1695. His father was hunting and fishing inspector. He sold his rights after the death of his father. For a certain time he was in service for the finance minister of Louis XIV, M. Fouqué. He wrote poems and fables (often inspired by Aesop [around 600 BC]).
