6.4.3 The neutral demonstrative pronoun -ce

We have seen the neutral demonstrative pronoun ce many times in this manual, without explaining it too much in detail.

Examples
C' est impossible.
  This is impossible.
C' est très cher.
  This is very expensive.
C' est trop compliqué.
  This is too complicated
Ce n' est pas vrai.
  This is not true.

The neutral demonstrative pronoun ce refers to a context, not to a certain element or an object. There are four demonstrative pronouns referring to a context ce / il and ça / cela. The function of these pronouns is the same, but unfortunately this does not mean that they are interchangeable.
