6.1 Negation in French

Now we come to part II of the French survival guide. We have had a glance at pronouns and prepositions, now we come to negation, passé composé, numbers and conjunctions. All these topics are necessary to be able to have a simple conversation in French. We start with the negation.

It is widely known that it is good for your mental health to be able to say NO. Therefore, we do not want to endanger your mental health in French speaking areas by withhold you the skill of doing it in French.

In English it is quite easy, we have two possibilities: not and no

a) I do not swim.
b) I have no choice.

Type a): Negation of a verb. Something is not done.
Type b): Negation of an object, usually with general statements.
