4.2.1.1 Verbs ending in -er

Most French verbs belong to this group are regular, meaning that the stem does not change when the conjugational ending is added. When they are irregular there are two types of irregularities:

1) the ones that are to be seen only in written form, that are not noticed when spoken - and
2) the "real" ones.

The first group contains a lot of verbs that change their written form only to keep up with the pronunciation. What is meant is, if the writing would have been regular, the pronunciation would be different. You will see this later on more in detail. These actually should not make so much of work.
The second group is much smaller and therefore not to be worried about too much.
